RoofTileCalculator
A roofer’s hobby project that grew into a modular, tested roofing engine—turning roof dimensions into battens, tile layouts, stack plans and 3D views. Too ambitious to abandon, ready for the right dev.
About this project
I started this as a simple jobsite tool to automate roof-tile calculations I was doing by hand. It kept growing into a modular, tested roofing engine with battens, tile layouts, stack plans and 3D views. Now it needs the right developer to take it further.Currently it is a working browser-based roof-tile calculation and planning project built around real roofing workflows. The system includes roof geometry, batten planning, tile-row and physical-piece calculations, manufacturer-specific product profiles, material quantities, stack planning, multi-plane handling, 2D/3D visualization, automated tests, and extensive technical documentation. The project is still under development. It is not a finished SaaS product or a ready-made website plug-in. A buyer should expect their developer or IT partner to inspect the repository, validate the roofing rules, adapt the interface, and decide how the system should be integrated or continued. The current UI is a development interface used to expose and test the underlying systems. It is not intended to represent the final commercial design. Some implemented calculation outputs are not yet shown visually. The main value is the roofing-specific groundwork already translated into code: measurement references, manufacturer-controlled limits, batten-layout rules, physical tile-piece handling, roof-plane calculations, stack-placement logic, and documented future workflows. The architecture is designed to support additional manufacturers and tile models. Each new product profile must still be checked against official technical documentation. Roofers currently spend significant time manually measuring batten layouts, calculating tile quantities, planning unloading positions, and checking manufacturer constraints. This project is meant to ease all of this. 35.5k-line repository across 146 files, including 20k JavaScript, 10.8k lines of tests and 5.2k lines of documentation. Original vision
The project is meant to become: a customer-facing roof calculator; an internal roofing-company planning tool; a material and installation-planning system; a visual quotation tool; a foundation for a larger construction-tech product.
What's included
Everything that comes with the listing on day one.
- Source code archive
- Documentation and runbooks
Why it's available
The scope has grown beyond what I want to continue developing and maintaining alone. The project is sold as is. It is a serious working prototype, not a finished commercial product. The buyer is responsible for technical review, roofing validation, redesign, integration, deployment, security, and future development.
